Opnet, Telcordia To Develop 3G Network Software

date: 15th March 2001

Opnet Technologies Inc. and Telcordia Technologies Inc. began a development effort to create software for planning and managing 3G wireless networks.

Financial terms weren't disclosed.

In a press release Thursday, Opnet said that in April it will release software extensions developed by the partnership for Opnet products. The software extensions are for Opnet products focused on predictive analysis and planning of Universal Mobile Technologies System, or UMTS.

Opnet described UMTS as the most popular communications standard proposed to support 3G services.

Opnet's focus on network management software will coincide with Telcordia's telecommunications operations support systems, Opnet said.
