Singapore unveils bidders for four 3G licences

date: 26 March 2001, source by: Reuters

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) said on Monday it had received four bids for its auction of four third-generation (3G) mobile licences set for April 23.

The bidders were Hong Kong's Sunday Communications Ltd's Expert Asia Ltd, MobileOne, Singapore Telecom Mobile (M1) -- the mobile arm of Singapore Telecommunications -- and StarHub Mobile , it said.

The city state's telecommunications regulator said the four applications were received on Monday, the closing date for the submission of bids. IDA said it will assess the applications and announce the eligible parties by April 2.

M1 is a venture between Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation , Singapore Press Holdings , Cable & Wireless and Pacific Century CyberWorks.

The StarHub consortium comprises Singapore Technologies, Singapore Power, British Telecommunications Plc and Japan's Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp.
