UIEvolution Technology Enables Cross-Platform Mobile J2EE Applications

date: March 29, 2002

UIEvolution Inc., a software technology company delivering wireless user interface development and deployment environments, announced that Compuware professional services has leveraged UIEvolution's patent-pending UIEngine(TM) client-server user interface-management and deployment engine to create a portable, extensible mobile CRM application prototype for real estate professionals with Compuware's Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE) pattern-based, model-driven development tool, OptimalJ. Compuware's OptimalJ development environment accelerates Java development with visual modeling and patterns.

The prototype CRM application runs on a variety of mobile platforms and delivers real-time home listing information to the client device. Feature-rich user interface components such as detailed maps, house photos or virtual home tours are integrated with CRM tools like contact management and calendaring -- making life easier for busy real estate professionals.

"Incompatible client platforms, diverse programming standards and inconsistent networks all complicate mobile enterprise application development and deployment," said Satoshi Nakajima, UIEvolution's president and CEO. "By leveraging the UIEngine, the Compuware professional services folks have overcome this barrier by reducing development costs, simplifying deployment and data administration, and perhaps most importantly, delivering better data to end users."

UIEvolution's UIEngine platform frees the user interface from application logic. UIEngine is a client-server middleware layer that enables device manufacturers, wireless operators, software providers and content developers to offer dynamic, interactive mobile applications that fully exploit 2.5G, 3G and wireless LAN networks. UIEvolution client-server technology achieves a unique performance balance between presentation and data transfer -- applications can be personalized at the server and made available in real-time to end users. Enterprise developers can tailor mobile applications or user interfaces to specific audiences, whether grouped by skill, device or location. On-the-go professionals spend less time waiting and more time accessing important corporate information.

With its innovative use of visual modeling and patterns, Compuware's OptimalJ simplifies Java development and accelerates application delivery, allowing developers to produce J2EE business applications faster and easier. OptimalJ generates complete, working applications directly from a visual model, using sophisticated patterns to implement accepted best practices for coding to J2EE specifications.
