DoCoMo plans flat rate 3G data access
March 17, 2004
NTT DoCoMo plans to offer a cheaper alternative to rival KDDI's unlimited Internet access on next generation mobile phones. Japan's second largest mobile operator KDDI is currently offering unlimited Internet access for 4,200 yen a month on its CDMA2000 1X EV-DO network.
DoCoMo could undercut the price by 300 yen to 3,900 yen a month Reuters reported, quoting a company source. The service is expected to be available in June to customers with its 3G FOMA handsets.
A spokesman for DoCoMo said the company is considering a flat rate plan and other pricing structures and services, but no decisions has been made yet.
