First 3G mobile TV service launched in Hong Kong by Golden Dynamic and NMS Communications
March 8, 2006
NMS Communications, a provider of technologies and solutions for
mobile applications and infrastructure, has announced mobile operator
CSL has launched Hong Kong's first 3G mobile TV service with an
application developed by Golden Dynamic and powered by NMS's mobile
video technology.
Golden Dynamic's "VOIR Portal" is an avant-garde gadget on a 3G service platform that allows mobile operators to increase average revenue per user (ARPU) among users, create customer loyalty and offer distinct brand differentiation through truly interactive content. Content owners can make use of the VOIR platform to enable business with 3G capability. VOIR provides a standard platform that offers a simple user interface requiring
minimal "clicks" to access video content, a complete revolution from the traditional experience of browsing through WAP menus on mobile phones. VOIR can be customised to meet the different needs of telecom operators or content owners. The VOIR portal is powered by NMS's CG 6565 IP video platform, TX 4000 communication platform and Video Access software.
"3G competition is steadily increasing in regions like Hong Kong, and this deployment of the first 3G mobile TV service is a real differentiator for Hong Kong CSL," said Wilson Lo, executive director of Golden Dynamic.
"We are very pleased to see the successful launch of the 3G mobile TV service by CSL. This further reinforces CSL's position as a leading innovator and provides excellent brand awareness for NMS in the marketplace," said Critz Chan, vice president and general manager, Asia, NMS Communications.
NMS's mobile video technology offers simplified building blocks for developers to create next-generation and 3G voice, video and data services with reduced time-to-market and lower lifecycle costs. The NMS mobile video platform and enabling software provide a powerful foundation for creating a wide range of video applications.
