Samsung supplies 3G equipment to PT Mobile-8 Telecom
March 11, 2007
Samsung Electronics Co. of the Republic of Korea said on March 6 that it has signed a deal to supply a third-generation (3G) mobile communications system to an Indonesian telecom operator in a bid to bolster its presence in the Southeast Asian market.
The 373-million USD deal with PT Mobile-8 Telecom calls for Samsung Electronics to provide the CDMA 2000 system including base stations required to install the 3G telecommunications platform in Indonesia over the next five years until 2011, the RoK's Yonhap news agency reported.
The contract comes after Samsung offered 120 million USD worth of such equipment to the mobile carrier in 2003, the RoK electronics heavyweight said in a press release.
