TD-SCDMA - a key project for the Chinese government

TD-SCDMA, China's homegrown technology for the third generation mobile communication (3G) standard, in included into the Key Projects List that made by the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
As one of the 12 key projects of the country's Eleventh Five-Year Plan period (from 2006 to 2010), the TD-SCDMA technology will gain more financial supports and referential policies from both the central government and local government.
The revenue of the country's information industry is expected to gain an average increase of 17.6% and reach CNY 10 trillion by 2010 from CNY 4.44 trillion in 2005.
The added value of this industry is estimated to rise 15% annually to CNY 2.6 trillion in 2010, CNY 1.28 trillion more compared to that of 2005 and accounting for about 10% of the nation's gross domestic product (GDP).
