LG Group in talks with foreign companies in 3G licensedate: May 10, 2001 South Korea's LG Group is in talks with foreign companies for a joint venture to bid for the Korea's third and final 3G licenses. LG Group would like the government to cut the license fees considerably from the current $883.4million on offer. Yang Seung-taik, Information and Communication Minister, told the press in March LG Group was the best choice for the final license. He also said it was consider reducing the 3G license fees if LG bid for the final 3G license that will be using the cdma2000 standard. In December, the government awarded two 3G licenses using the wCDMA standard.
