3G standing still said Siemens

Siemens on Thursday told the press the slump in the telecom sector is harming the development of 3G wireless network and deployment around the world. Mobile makers cannot afford to produce 3G handsets unless they know for sure, a live service will be up, and running and demand will be high enough to justify the production.

The telecom sector is at a very difficult time at the moment, with shares dropping, they are increasing finding it hard to rise cash said a spokesman from Siemens. At the moment everything is standing still in terms of expansion on the 3G front, he said. "The market is in a consolidation phase."

Today, Philip Hampton, Finance Director of BT said, "I think the expectations for the speed at which 3G will roll out is now different from what it was a year ago''.
