Denso and Kenwood to join force in 3G handsetsdate: May 11, 2001 Denso Corp and Kenwood are to cooperate to develop and make 3G compatible handsets, a paper said in Japan. Denso is car component maker for Toyota and Kenwood an audio system maker. Both would join up to develop software to control 3G compatible cell-phone system and make 3G cellphones under their own names. Denso will expand its existent mobile phone department and to allow Kenwood to develop new 3G cell-phones. Denso will hope to reduce R&D cost. Both firms have co-operated in the past with car navigation systems and other auto products. This alliance will allow them plans to integrate 3G handsets into cars.
