UMTS Forum defends 3G marketdate: May 15, 2001 The UMTS Forum on Tuesday defended the future for 3G services despite news a day earlier from BT the 3G trail was going to be delayed. UMTS Forum was on a roadshow to promote 3G services and believed 3G services are expected to be out in Europe at the end of 2002. The group is expected to see Phase One of the rollout in early 2002 and Phase Two by early 2004. Phase Two will be the most excited time, a spokeperson from UMTS Forum said and added we expected to see media live streaming on your handsets. UMTS Forum is gathering place for 3G industries such as operators and manufacturers and interest groups. A recent study by UMTS Forum suggested annual revenues from 3G services will be $300billion by 2010 with an average subscriber spending $300 per month on 3G services.
