Bugs haunting 3G handsets even after launch

Koji Nishigaki, President of NEC said software bugs will haunt 3G handsets even after 3G services are launched early next year.

He told reporters it is very difficult to eliminate the bugs in such a large software system, but he did not see a delay in the NTT DoCoMo commercial 3G services on October 1st.

NEC is the main 3G handset supplier for NTT DoCoMo and Isle of Man at the 3G trails.

Nishigaki believed the communications sector lacked the computer maker's understanding of software bugs and the sector do not have experience software programmers.

The 3G handset itself is like a software program, he said and added, our network communications company people have no experience with such a big software development.
