Telia and Tele2 picking 3G suppliers early next weekdate: May 16, 2001 Kenneth Karlberg, the head of Telia's mobile told the press they and Tele2 were in the final phase of discussions on choosing the supplier for their 3G wireless network and will announce the decision early next week. Telecom analysts expect Telis and Tele2 would give the 3G order to Siemens and Ericsson. Siemens has supplied Telia with GSM network and Ericsson supplied Telia. Nokia was also considered by both operators, but was later disregarded because it did not already have a GSM network in with Telia or Tele2 in Sweden. Telia failed to win one of Sweden's four 3G licenses early last year and joined force with Tele2 who won a license, they will co-build 3G network and to co-supply the service.
