Adopt TD-SCDMA or kicked out of Chinadate: May 17, 2001 If you want to be part of the next generation mobile market in China, you must adopt TD-SCDMA in China or faces begin kicked out of its domestic market, warned Yang Yigang, vice-president of Chinese Academy of Telecoms Technology (CATT). Yang said China is developing its own standard for third generation mobile network and the domestic patent-owned TD-SCDMA would save domestic companies great sum of money. He also added which technology standard China adopts will mean huge market opportunities for related companies. Siemens, a member of CATT, spent billions over the technology and will certainly be the first foreign companies to be allowed into China's potential $15billion 3G mobile market. TD-SCDMA is begin developed by Datang Telecom and is supported by the government. However it is considered an immature technology standard compared to WCDMA or cdma2000.
