MobileOne, SingTel and StarHab may share 3G network costdate: May 17, 2001 MobileOne said it is discussing with its rival Singapore Telecommunications and StarHub on the possibilities of sharing the cost of building the 3G network in Singapore. The plan is to share out the $1.5billion expected cost of building the 3G wireless services and such venture will the first in Asia. The venture will the save cost of rolling out 3G services for all three companies, said the chief executive of MobileOne and added, the cost of base-stations and network towers can all be share to lower rollout cost. Telecom analysts believes given the low cost of the Singapore 3G license fee and the gigantic cost of rolling out 3G services, sharing will significantly reduce the financial risks from 3G.
