Europe's biggest 3G event at riskdate: May 20, 2001 Major telecom players are going to pull out of The UMTS 2001 show after a row with the event organizers over money. The event due to be held at Palau de Congressos in Barcelona, running from 15th to 18th October was now at risked after vendors held a meeting to pull-out of the event after agreeing they just do not have the cash flowed and ticket disputed over last year event. "We need to balance the cost versus the benefit this year because of the downturn of the telecom sectors", said a spokesman from the vendors. He said on average it cost around $50,000 a day for a company at such events. The show last year was fully booked by telecom companies from around the world to show-off their new 'toys'. But this year is completely different with 3G telcos having a U-turn over spending cost.
