Introducing the Andrew 3G TMA 2100 Dual Duplex Tower Mounted Amplifier for UMTSdate: May 23, 2001 - source: Andrew Corporation introduced a Tower Mounted Amplifier (TMA) for European third generation UMTS network rollouts. The TMA 2100 dual duplex, low noise amplifier boosts coverage, reduces system noise, and improves uplink sensitivity. The new 60 MHz bandwidth dual duplex version requires only one feeder line, reducing feeder line costs and tower loading and permitting easier installation. “The TMA 2100 Dual Duplex amplifier for UMTS boosts the signal-to-noise ratio, extends the cell-site size and enables faster rollout of services,” said Jeff Penteris, Business Area Director for Andrew Corporation’s Tower Mounted Amplifier business. Tower mounted amplifiers enhance coverage quality by reducing the number of dropped calls, creating potential for extra traffic and increased service revenue. Andrew TMA 2100 Dual Duplex Tower Mounted Amplifiers, also known as mast head amplifiers, feature built-in alarm functions, lightning protection, and an emergency bypass mode. “Our TMA 2100 Dual Duplex amplifier balances the uplink with the downlink by improving the UMTS network receiver performance. This enables improved bit error rate in UMTS network design,” said Dr. Rajan Subramanian, Andrew Corporation’s Business Unit Manager, Tower Mounted Amplifier business. “The new TMA 2100 design is also robust enough to withstand extreme weather conditions.”
