Experts affirms success from 3G eventuallydate: May 24, 2001 Delegated at the 3G 2001 conference in Nice, France have said the prolong delay in producing 3G handsets as just a small fault and telecom experts say 3G will take several years to convince users and to start making profits. They were caught by the surprise success of SMS messaging and instant news beam to handsets that operators believed this would translate to 3G services, said a member from the conference. "Bargain of the century" said Marty Cooper, CEO and co-founder of ArrayComm and inventor of the cellular phone. Bob Kohlenbach from Durlacher investment brokerage said profits from 3G would not be expected until 2005 when 3G handsets should be low cost enough for consumers. He also suggested gaming, adult contents and streaming videos would be the core profits from 3G businesses and should be targeted. Jan-Ake Bjorck, director of sales from Ericsson believes we cannot predict the future of 3G, it is a matter of luck to be successful or not.
