During the weekend, the government of Japan withheld approval for DoCoMo to launch full 3G services because technical quality of the service cannot be guaranteed for the users.

There were feared from inside the company that the service cannot go ahead and may be delayed until next year or later.

DoCoMo would be allowed with a scheduled introductory launch of trial 3G services because this did not need official approval said an official from the ministry of telecommunications.
