FOMA into six figure subscribersdate: May 8, 2002 DoCoMo has now managed to sign up over 100,000 subscribers. Figures just released state that there were 106,000 FOMA subscribers at the end of April. The number represents an approximate jump of 23,000 subscribers since late March, when DoCoMo president, Keiji Tachikawa, said revealed that initial growth had been slower than expected. Japanese telecom NTT DoCoMo said today, its profits plunged 99.8 percent in the year to March due to losses on foreign investments, but pledged to hit record profits in the current year on fresh demand. DoCoMo expects its 3G service, launched last autumn and the world's first, will have 1.38 million users by the end of March 2003. Although that figure fell short of a target of 150,000, Tachikawa said attractive services would lure more customers.
