Vodafone's 3G delays deepen
date: May 10, 2002
French 3G license holder, Cegetel's SFR has added further delays to the
world's biggest mobile operator's 3G intentions. SFR has said that it
will launch UMTS services to the mass market in 2004, later than had been
expected.
Chairman Philippe Germond also spoke of Vodafone's intentions regarding
its holding in the mobile unit. Germond said it "makes sense" for Vodafone
to want to exchange its 15 per cent in Cegetel for a larger share of SFR,
in which Vodafone has 31.9 per cent.
