Under the terms of the relationship, Hitachi will integrate AirPrime's 3G CDMA embedded modules into its new wireless PDA products, which are slated to be announced later this year. In addition, AirPrime will assist Hitachi in bringing its existing CDMA products to market in North America. "AirPrime has a strong track record in developing 3G CDMA wireless access solutions that meet the needs of OEMs and wireless operators across the globe," said Shigeru Matsuoka, general manager, mobile information and communication appliance division for Hitachi. "Teaming with a global leader like Hitachi offers a unique value proposition to wireless operators seeking to offer their customers top-line 3G wireless terminals," said Anthony Gioeli, president of AirPrime. The North American market presents AirPrime and Hitachi with a wealth of growth opportunities for the delivery of next-generation wireless products, as there are currently more than 48 million CDMA subscribers on the continent, and numerous North American operators have announced plans to further expand their 3G CDMA networks over the next several months.
