Another round of auctions in NZdate: May 14, 2002 The Communications Minister of New Zealand, Paul Swain, has confirmed that the next auction of spectrum rights will start on 23rd July. The auction will include the last remaining block of 3G spectrum that remains unsold after last year's mammoth 3G auction, which went on for over six months. The rules are now being revised to ensure this auction finishes more quickly, however with only 16 lots on offer as compared to 1,035 it is expected to be a much faster sale. The auction is mainly to allocate spectrum for fixed wireless and additional spectrum in the 890-900 MHz band for either GSM or CDMA.
