Xfera Deploys MetaSolv Service Activation Solution to Support UMTS Launchdate: May 14, 2002 MetaSolv Software, a provider in communications management solutions for traditional and next-generation networks and services, announced at the TeleManagement World conference and exhibition that emerging UMTS mobile operator Xfera has implemented MetaSolv's ASAP service activation solution to support its upcoming launch of 3G mobile services. MetaSolv ASAP will enable Xfera to quickly and efficiently deliver differentiated voice and IP-based data services to its customers. As a new entrant into the Spanish market, Xfera will use MetaSolv ASAP for its launch of mobile services over its UMTS (3G) network. Xfera will also benefit from ASAP's ability to activate across all areas of the network, including the radio infrastructure, core IP network and application and services layer. MetaSolv ASAP is part of a comprehensive portfolio of advanced service provisioning solutions currently in use by more than thirty leading mobile operators globally. "It was essential that Xfera select a proven activation platform that would enable us to position Xfera as a leading edge operator offering a varied and differentiated set of services," said Juan Martin, IT Director, Xfera. "With its next-generation mobile functionality, robustness and scalability, and multi-vendor capability, MetaSolv ASAP will enable us to provide superior customer care and quickly roll-out new services as we launch our 3G network. As new applications are developed and added, the flexibility of ASAP will allow us to seamlessly migrate to new technologies." "Mobile service providers need solutions that enable them to efficiently provision services and applications across both 2.5 and 3G networks," said Curtis Holmes, president and COO, MetaSolv. "MetaSolv ASAP can help operators such as Xfera reduce operating costs and maximise customer and revenue potential through the roll-out of differentiated new services."
