Aspiro sells mobile services to 3G operator

date: May 16, 2002

Aspiro has signed an agreement with Swedish 3G operator, Hi3G, for the sale of mobile services based on the theme “New Age” prior to Hi3G’s official launch later this year.

Aspiro has signed a sales agreement with operator Hi3G which has 3G licenses in Sweden and Denmark. Hi3G is a part of the Hutchison Whampoa Group, which also owns 3G licenses in Australia, Austria, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Israel and Italy. Hi3G is planning a commercial launch of its first 3G services in selected areas of Sweden later this year.

The agreement with Swedish Hi3G includes the delivery and operation of four entertainment services based on the theme ”New Age”, including a horoscope and tarot card reading. The agreement is license-based with a fixed fee in the first year. The 3G-tailored services will be delivered in September prior to Hi3G’s official launch later during the year.

“Our strategy is to use partners to develop content that is relevant for our customers”, says Tony Mendes, head of content at Hi3G. “By linking up with competent players like Aspiro in many different areas, we expect to be able to offer attractive and exciting content that responds to our customers needs and demands.”

“It’s great news that deliveries of 3G services are finally starting to ship,” says Håkan Persson, CEO of Aspiro. “The possibilities for creating attractive consumer-friendly services for 3G are endless. The New Age package is a good example of fun, easy-to-use Aspiro Services.”
