Entrust, a provider of enhanced Internet security products and services, announced that it has signed a contract with IT solutions provider SchlumbergerSema, under which the two companies will deliver infrastructure and security services to Hutchison 3G for its 3G services. The solution will initially be deployed by Hutchison 3G in the UK and later made available in other countries where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests.

SchlumbergerSema will combine its experience in consulting, systems integration and project management to implement the Entrust security solutions. This combined effort establishes a position for development and implementation of enhanced Internet security and entitlements solutions for wireless networks and services.

Xavier Flinois, President, Network and Infrastructure Solutions at Schlumberger said, "The combination of our consulting and project management expertise uniquely positions SchlumbergerSema to support Hutchison 3G. These capabilities, combined with Entrust security solutions, will help Hutchison 3G reduce risk and time-to-market for its third generation services."

Bill Conner, President, Chairman and CEO for Entrust, said, "We are pleased that our technology makes it possible for wireless providers to capitalize on the unlimited potential of the 3G technology by providing auditable, private and personal transactions for the consumer. Entrust and SchlumbergerSema have been collaborating successfully since 1998 in the information security, smart card and mobile e-commerce arenas."
