DT wants Bundesliga rights for 3G contentdate: May 24, 2002 According to reports in the German media, Deutsche Telekom is planning to acquire the broadcast rights to the country's top two soccer leagues, the Bundesliga, to provide content for its 3G services. The telco is also said to be thinking of picking up a stake in the sports channel DSF that is looking for financial backing. Deutsche Telekom and TeleMuenchenGruppe (TMG) have now formed a bidding consortium for the TV rights, although there could be competition from KirchGruppe's Leo Kirch and his deputy Dieter Hahn. The insolvent Kirch Media, along with Premiere, were the previous owners of the rights and are now looking to lower the payments to the 36 football clubs that make up the league.
