The next evolution of gaming is clearly wirelessdate: May 28, 2002 As the search for a killer app continues, deals signed by both Sprint and H3G makes wireless gaming look increasingly likely to be a good contender for the title. Both operators have just signed deals to attract subscribers to spend money on gaming. Sega Mobile has revealed it has formed a strategic alliance to deliver mobile gaming content to Sprint's next generation network, which is due to launch in the US this summer. Monkey Ball is expected to be one of the first full-colour mobile games that Sprint wireless will launch. "The Sprint 3G network enables the transformation of mobile games from the text-based experience of today to a graphic, full-colour experience of console-brand games available through Sprint on its 3G-enabled PCS phones," said Chip Novick, VP, consumer marketing, Sprint. "The next evolution of gaming is clearly wireless," he added. The carrier plans to include a host of additional classic Sega games for customers to download include titles such as Pengo, Flicky, Puyo Puyo, and Baku Baku Animal. Sprint has also signed 3G game agreements with companies such as THQ, Cybiko, JAMDAT Mobile, nGame and Blue Lava Wireless. Meanwhile Hutchison 3G has admitted to having signed deals with nine software firms to develop gaming content. Partnerships have been announced with iFone, It's Alive, Supedo, nGame, Codetoys, Simian Industries, Morpheme, Cheeky Wireless and Purple Software. The agreements will cover the supply of 40 games, including classic arcade style and traditional board and card games.
