Qualcomm Congratulates Reliance on the Rollout of 3G CDMA2000 1X Services
in India

Qualcomm congratulates Reliance Infocomm, a member of the Reliance group,
India's largest business enterprise, on the commercial launch of Reliance
IndiaMobile's, 3G CDMA2000 1X services, which commenced on May 1, 2003.
The Reliance IndiaMobile service marks the first CDMA2000 1X nationwide
commercial launch in India, bringing advanced wireless data and voice
services to 92 cities.
Reliance Infocomm's success in signing up over one million customers
and achieving a record 30 million minutes of wireless usage per day.
"We are very pleased that Reliance Infocomm has chosen CDMA as the foundation
of its wireless strategy, and this launch marks an exciting beginning
for advanced 3G wireless services in India," said Jeff Jacobs, president
of global development for Qualcomm. "Reliance will ensure India's residents
have access to the latest, high-quality, affordable voice and data wireless
services. Reliance is positioned to be a key driver for the global 3G
CDMA market."

attractive customer benefits, a nationwide retail network and an overarching
wireless network will set the stage for a mobile revolution in India through
the Reliance IndiaMobile service," said Prakash Bajpai, president, Enterprise

position and reputation for innovation in the worldwide wireless market."
Reliance Infocomm is packaging its services as Reliance IndiaMobile,
offering a host of applications, including messaging in Indian languages,
e-mail, Internet surfing, access to real-time political, financial and
sports-related news, games and streaming video at speeds of up to 144
kbps.
