Artesia products supports the delivery of 3G content to Hutchison 3G UK
May 17, 2003
Artesia Technologies announced the deployment of its TEAMS digital asset
management solution by BBC Technology for 3, Hutchison 3G's new UK service.
Artesia's TEAMS solution is being used to support the real-time production
and distribution of content -- including video, images and print - to
the first UK 3G mobile phone network.
"One of the great promises of digital asset management has been the ability
to more easily leverage existing content across new and emerging distribution
channels in order to create new revenue streams and facilitate new business
models," said Scott Bowen, president and COO, Artesia Technologies. "This
deployment is one of the most cutting-edge examples of this anywhere in
the world. We're excited to be partnered with this industry leader in
setting the standards for the future of mobile communications."
One example of the type of innovation being delivered is 3's partnership
with the F.A. Premier League. Through the integration of Artesia's TEAMS
Solution within a Quantel-based production environment, 20-second video
clips of goals being scored in the UK's top football league can be automatically
created, formatted and distributed just moments after they happen. Subscribers
then receive an automatic prompt informing them of their team's recent
success and are offered the opportunity to view the goal instantaneously
on their handset.
Hutchison 3G awarded a five-year contract for managing audio/visual content
to BBC Technology in 2002.
