3 introduces competitive customer bonuses in Australia

May 10, 2004

Building on the success of the $99 talk cap offer, 3 Australia announced new highly competitive pricing plans offering a range of customer bonuses, including 150 free SMS per month, $100 a month free 3 to 3 voice calls, 30% off voice rates and 30 cents for 10 minute calls to landlines.

Customers who join 3 will pay nothing for their handset when they connect to a 3 Bonus plan for 24 months which gives them the choice of one of four bonuses. These plans are being offered as an addition to the existing Hot for 3 pricing which includes the popular New $99 Talk Cap. (£1 = Aus$ 2.37)

Nigel Dews, Director of Sales, Marketing & Product said, "It's always been our aim to shake up the mobile market with outstanding value for our customers. Our $99 talk cap really stands out because it is unique to 3. Now we're adding other plans which trump competitor offerings, adding even more to 3's competitive edge.

"3 is the only network currently offering value benefits such as $500 worth of voice calls for $99 a month and now the 150 free SMS offer. And our call costs on the $22 plan are the lowest being advertised on consumer plans in the market."

Mr Dews said, "With 3 Bonus plans and a fantastic range of $0 video mobiles, 3 is giving customers greater freedom to choose the plan which best suits them. Each plan comes with the choice of one of four bonuses. So whether it's SMS, voice calls to mobiles and landlines including family and friends on 3, or video calling, there is an added benefit for everyone who connects to a 3 Bonus plan."

"The plans and choices are really simple. First pick a bonus and then choose a plan. We have six plan options ranging from $22 to $99 a month.

"To further sweeten the new pricing offers, each plan entitles customers to a $15 cap on a selection of 3's services including video news, sport, finance and most entertainment services," he said.

This will allow customers to experience some of our great video services knowing they will pay no more than $15 in any month. And as a special introductory 3 offer, customers can use these services as much as they like for the first month because they are FREE for the first bill."

Mr Dews concluded that "Customers are drawing their own comparisons to other networks' pricing plans and realising that 3 is a better choice. For example on 3, customers can get the Nokia 7600 on our $33 plan compared with Optus where the lowest level of commitment for the same phone is the $55 Optus Optimiser Plan".
