3G handsets for hotel residents in Hong Kong
May 18, 2004
Long term tenants living Hong Kong's Harbour Plaza Resort City can expect to receive a 3G phone and extras worth HK$1,000 from Hutchison Whampoa. The scheme applies only to the Harbour Plaza Resort City situated in Tin Shui Wai but the offer may be extended to other Harbour Plaza hotels depending on market response. (£1 = HK$13.12)
Harbour Plaza Resort City is controlled by Hutchison's sister company Cheung Kong. Hutchison is handing out the free Motorola A835 to tenants signing on for at least six months at the Tin Shui Wai hotel and serviced apartment block. In addition the tenants will receive 40% off their rental costs.
Harbour Plaza hotels general manager Stephen Chu said the present occupancy rate at the Tin Shui Wai hotel is 92%. Serviced apartments make up half of the hotel's 1,102 rooms.
The Motorola A835 is the cheapest 3G handset on offer by 3HK, retailing at HK$498. The NEC c313 and c616 are priced HK$998 and HK$1980 respectively. 3HK has also launched the c616v which is an improved and upgraded version of the c616.
