3 Australia new business plans cuts call rates

May 20, 2004

3, Australia's only 3G mobile network, announced new business pricing offering call rates which significantly reduce business mobile costs.

3's new Business Bonus plans give customers double the included Talk time and Voicemail. This means on some plans, where a customer uses all the included Talk time, the Talk rates can be effectively halved - to be as low as 7.5 cents for 30 seconds plus 9 cents effective flagfall. (£1 = Aus$2.43)

"Double the included Talk time on the new business plans means customers can be up to 50% better off." Nigel Dews, Director of Sales, Marketing & Product said.

Customers on the Business Bonus 75 plan who make $150 worth of included calls will only pay $75 per month and their effective Talk rate will be just 7.5 cents for 30 seconds, plus an effective flagfall of 9 cents per call. And 3 to 3 calls are just 10 cents for 5 minutes.

The Talk rate on the Business Bonus 75 plan is just 15 cents for 30 seconds plus 18 cent flagfall. The comparable Optus rate (Business Edge 77) is 22 cents for 30 seconds and 16.5 cents flagfall. The comparable Vodafone rate (Red SIM $70 Plan) is 26 cents for 30 seconds plus 20 cent flagfall.

On 3, if more than 50% of a customer's monthly Talk and Voicemail spend is made from outside 3's Video Zones, a 50% surcharge will apply to all Talk and Voicemail made outside Video Zones for that bill.

On the Business Bonus 75 plan, for example, if in one month a customer uses $50 worth of Talk and Voicemail inside 3's Video Zones and $60 of Talk and Voicemail outside 3's Video Zones, the total Talk and Voicemail usage will be $140 ($50 + $60 + $30 surcharge). But because the customer gets $150 of included usage with the Business Bonus 75 plan, they'll still only spend $75 on Talk and Voicemail.

Mr Dews said "3 has had a major impact on the consumer market and our new business pricing is aimed at sharpening our appeal to the business market. Based on today's competitive offers, the 3 business offer has clear advantages in terms of savings and simplicity.

"The new pricing adds to the competitive edge we have established with our attractive consumer offers including capped plans and bonus offers for voice and SMS.

"Now we have the handsets and the prices to service the specific needs of business as well", Mr Dews said.

New Pricing Plans - Great value

The new Business Bonus plans are a great value offering across a range of phone, multimedia and data access services. Plans start at $45 a month.

Other features include:

- $0 upfront for mobiles

- double the included Talk time and voicemail for free

- 10 cents for five minutes to any other 3 mobile 24/7

- $1,000 of Mobile Internet on first bill for only $150

- $15 monthly cap for some content services including finance, news and sport

Customers can choose from six Business Bonus 24 month plan voice options (from $45-$400 per month) that include double Talk time every month.
