RADCOM deploys Mindspeed's BAM for 3G networks
May 26, 2004
Mindspeed Technologies, a supplier of semiconductor solutions for network infrastructure applications, announced that RADCOM is deploying Mindspeed's broadband access multiplexer (BAM), DS3/E3 Line Interface Unit (LIU), and OptiPHY ATM/POS devices in its Cellular Performer Analyzer system for 2.5 and 3G wireless networks.
RADCOM is a network test and quality management solutions provider for predeployment and recurrent testing of VoIP, cellular and datacom system performance. Its Cellular Performer is a comprehensive cellular network analyzer for 2.5 and 3G networks. Supporting all current cellular protocols, the Cellular Performer is used by network equipment manufacturers and operators worldwide for quality assurance, verification, and integration/installation testing; as well as for troubleshooting, maintaining and monitoring GPRS/EDGE, UMTS and CDMA2000 networks.
"Mindspeed's broad family of transmission solutions help RADCOM develop high-performance, software-configurable systems such as the Cellular Performer Analyzer," said Eylon Rosen, hardware R&D manager of RADCOM. "Mindspeed's highly integrated multiplexers, LIUs and OptiPHY physical-layer devices dramatically reduce our board-space requirements while providing the performance and software support we need to develop complex, configurable testing systems."
"We are pleased that RADCOM chose Mindspeed to supply its communications semiconductor solutions," said Taqi Mohiuddin, product line manager for Mindspeed. "Our comprehensive family of ATM, SONET, and DS3/E3 transmission devices provides the integration and flexibility demanded by RADCOM's sophisticated testing systems."
The Cellular Performer offers an extensive set of physical and link-layer measurements to improve network efficiency, irrespective of whether the transport layer is ATM, Frame Relay or Ethernet. It also provides fully automatic online and offline deciphering capabilities, session-level analysis of IP sessions and voice calls, and end-to-end voice quality measurements.
The Cellular Performer can analyze and troubleshoot network conditions at all seven telecommunication layers. This includes everything from basic physical and link-layer tests to complex tracing of NAS layer voice and IP session signaling and data/voice QoS validation. The Cellular Performer is available in both portable and scalable rack mount configurations. Tests can be run using either the embedded-PC environment, or remotely from any PC.
Mindspeed's CX29503 BAM is a highly integrated, cost-effective SONET/SDH to PDH mapper. It performs mapping, multiplexing, demultiplexing and framing of three STS-1, AU-3, DS3, E3, or one AU-4 inputs to any valid combination of 84 DS1 or 63 E1 signals. The M28354 LIU incorporates four independent receivers, transmitters, and digital jitter-attenuators and each channel can be independently configured to operate at DS3, E3, or STS-1 rates. The OptiPHY CX29704 implements four-channel ATM-over-SONET/SDH procession functions at 155.52 Mbps.
