Motorola launches 3G ACOE in Beijing

Motorola has launched an Application Center of Excellence (ACOE) in China that will provide the dedicated resources of an applications development organization to research new wireless data services and help operators evaluate applications and integrate them into their networks. The Application COE was designed by Motorola in consultation with China's leading telecom operators and 3rd party application developers.

With over US$3.4B total investment in China to date, Motorola is steadfastly committed to China, building local manufacturing and R&D capabilities in order to provide the country with advanced communications solutions. Motorola's first R&D center in China was established in 1993 and there are now 19 centers with over 1600 R&D engineers.

"Wireless data services are viewed as a revenue growth opportunity for operators," said Ruey Bin Kao, Motorola corporate vice president and general manager for infrastructure in China. "One of our goals for Application COE is to help operators connect with 3rd party application developers to create innovative new services. We then provide the expertise in providing total solutions, integrating platforms, content and the new services so operators can provide end user experiences that delight their customers and help drive wireless data usage -- and create revenue opportunities -- on their networks."

In addition to providing operators a totally integrated end-to-end solution, the Motorola Application COE offers several advantages including quality control, strong engineering and logistic support, and a sales and marketing channel.
