Vodafone Hungary orders W-CDMA radio network from Siemens
May 5, 2005
Siemens will be supplying equipment for building the W-CDMA network for mobile operator Vodafone Hungary. Vodafone Hungary has awarded the Siemens Communications Group as sole supplier to deliver and install all necessary W-CDMA radio equipment for the implementation of a 3G mobile network across the country. This includes Hungary's capital Budapest and other major cities.
"We have chosen Siemens as our 3G technology partner because of its international experience and strong presence in Central and Eastern Europe. With the implementation of the 3G/W-CDMA network we will be able to provide our customers with a higher speed of data transfer and higher quality of services," said Gábor Döbrossy , CTO of Vodafone Hungary.
"With this order for Siemens Communications and our first mobile radio networks order in Hungary, we will be able to further strengthen our market position and our world market leadership - together with NEC - as a supplier of 3G technology," said Christoph Caselitz, President of the Mobile Networks Division at Siemens Communications. "This order shows the rapidly growing demand for 3G services in this region. We are pleased that Vodafone is now also opting for Siemens as a 3G network equipment supplier in Hungary."
