3 teams with up with Granada for Celebrity Wrestling

May 7, 2005

3, the UK's first video mobile network, and Granada television are bringing the latest ITV hit show, Celebrity Wrestling, to video mobiles for the first time. Thanks to the new agreement, over 3 million customers on 3's network can watch the show's highlights, plus backstage outtakes only available on mobile.

There's no holds barred as twelve famous faces go toe to toe in the new prime time Saturday night show Celebrity Wrestling, presented by Kate Thornton, who will be joined by former WWF legend Rowdy Roddy Piper. The celebrities are split into two teams. The girls are: Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton, TV presenter Jenny Powell, former tennis star Annabel Croft, pin-up Leilani Dowding, Big Brother winner and TV presenter Kate Lawler and actress and former Miss Sweden Victoria Silvstedt.

The male maulers are: former EastEnders heart-throb Marc Bannerman, the infamous Major James Hewitt, showjumper Oliver Skeete, children's TV presenter Mark Speight, Commonwealth Games Gold medallist, athlete Iwan Thomas and presenter Jeff Brazier.

Gareth Jones, COO, 3 said: "TV shows like this are ideal for our 'Today on 3' service, we're tapping into programmes that we know our customers really enjoy and we're providing it to them in bite-size chunks on 3. Our customers are watching Celebrity Wrestling at home on TV, reading about it in the newspapers and through this new agreement with Granada, they can now watch the highlights on 3. Our 3 million customers won't miss a thing."

Katrina Moran, Granada Interactive: "We're excited to be working with 3 and delighted to see Celebrity Wrestling proving so popular on 3's video mobile network. We know Celebrity Wrestling fans won't want to miss any of the action, with 3 they can watch their favourite moments on the move and even get the backstage uncut action too."

Granada will supply around 60 video clips to 3 across the 8 week series, clips will be charged at 50p per clip or included within add-on packages.
