Don't we have the best of 3G already?

In 2002, Steve Jones - Independent 3G Consultant, who edits his 3G news web site - The 3G Portal, and runs The 3G Consultancy wrote a report - "3G Launch Strategies" - [published by Tarifica].
He was somewhat ahead of the curve with his views that people will have developed a habit of getting the reality of 3G without having to pay for 3G, by the time this technology moves away from it's 'early adopter' phase, as we are beginning to see now. The excerpt from his 150+ page report explains this factor in more detail - while recently Carlo Longino wrote a piece for The Feature which is something of a echo (allbeit a few years after his Steve's original take on the same issues). The following gives a flavour:
'...Evidently those pesky subscribers would rather transfer content from their computers to their handsets via a cable, memory card or Bluetooth and access the Net over Wi-Fi than use carriers' closed, and often expensive, systems..." says Carlo Longino.
