Ericsson and ZTE to deliver TD-SCDMA solutions in China

May 19, 2005

Ericsson and ZTE jointly announced the signing of a strategic alliance agreement to deliver TD-SCDMA solutions for China. Under the agreement, Ericsson and ZTE will commence close technical cooperation in the TD-SCDMA area.

The alliance builds upon Ericsson's global market presence in 3G mobile network solutions and ZTE's rich experience in the TD-SCDMA area. It reinforces both parties' dedication to making the most of their respective strengths to provide the best-in-class solutions for customers.

In accordance with the agreement, Ericsson is to integrate ZTE's TD-SCDMA Node B into its radio access network, including hardware and software, on an OEM basis. The two parties will also team up to participate in the TD-SCDMA trials in China.

"The agreement demonstrates our commitment and capabilities in this regard. With our alliance with ZTE, I am confident that we are very well positioned to capture the huge opportunities presented by China's fast-growing mobile market, and further enhance our value proposition for customers in China," said Mats H Olsson, President of Ericsson Greater China.

"We are very pleased to be working with Ericsson in driving the development and commercialization of TD-SCDMA technology and solutions," said Mr. Xie Daxiong, Senior Vice President and General Manager of ZTE's mobile division.
