3 launches video download chart show on Kiss 100
May 24, 2005
3UK has collaborated with Kiss 100 to launch a music video download chart show. The show will be the first to chart the popularity of music videos.
The chart is based on 3's video jukebox - a service which lets music fans watch the latest music videos on their mobiles. The jukebox has proved popular with 3's customers, who downloaded over 10 million videos in the first six months after the service launched.
Each Saturday morning between 10 and 12, Kiss DJ James Merritt will count down a chart of the top 20 videos watched by 3 customers on their mobile handsets and play out a mixture of current favourites and classic tracks on air. The chart will also be available online, allowing music fans to watch the most popular videos or listen to the last week's show if they missed it.
As well as previews of new videos being released over the coming week, the show will run on air and online competitions, with prizes, from the latest handsets preloaded with the latest videos to tickets to the hottest music events. The show will also feature exclusive content and a mix of entertainment news and exclusive content straight from a 3 handset.
"Kiss has pioneered urban and dance music in the UK from the outset and the 3 Download chart is another example of Kiss bringing a completely new idea to our listeners first. It's great to be involved in a programme that showcases both the latest music and technology and I love the idea of breaking news straight from my 3 video mobile," says James Merritt, Kiss 100 DJ.
