mobilkom Austria launches new 3G broadband tariffs
May 23, 2006
Mobile broadband tariffs from A1 now include even higher data volume at the same price. In addition, MOBILE BROADBAND 3600, a new tariff for those who surf the web intensively, will become available 1 June 2006. The tariffs arrive just in time for the software upgrade of the 3G/UMTS router to HSDPA as well as for the launch of the A1 INTERNETBOX, connecting laptop or PC to the Internet via USB.
"We are always working to make mobile Internet use even more convenient, introducing correspondingly attractive tariffs and hardware. As a result, A1 customers can enjoy lightning fast web surfing with mobile high-speed Internet access throughout Austria beginning at EUR 19.00 per month. In addition, with the A1 INTERNETBOX we are setting new standards in mobile Internet access," says Dr. Hannes Ametsreiter, Director of Marketing, Distribution and Customer Services, mobilkom austria.
More Megabytes for New and Existing Customers
Beginning 12 May 2006, the tariffs for MOBILE BROADBAND include even higher data volume at the same price. The previously included tolerance limit of 20 percent is now a permanent part of the package. Previous tariffs A1 MOBILE BROADBAND 250, 500 and 1000 will now be upgraded to the new tariffs A1 MOBILE BROADBAND 300, 600 and 1200. All new customers who choose a MOBILE BROADBAND tariff save EUR 10.00 per month off their monthly rental fee for the first contract year when registering by 31 August 2006.
The Right Tariff for Everyone, from Beginners to Full-Time Web Surfers
In addition to A1 MOBILE BROADBAND 300, the attractive beginner package with 300 MB for EUR 19.00, a new tariff for intensive web users will be introduced 1 June 2006. A1 MOBILE BROADBAND 3600 (for all those who surf the web, e-mail, chat and download often) includes 3600 MB and is available for one year for EUR 89.00 instead of EUR 99.00 when registering for a minimum contract of 24 months by 31 August 2006.
Low Connection Fees when Included MBs are Exceeded
Improvements affect not only the included data volume, but also the cost incurred when the MBs included in the monthly rental fee are exceeded. With A1 MOBILE BROADBAND 600, 1200 or 3600, customers who use more now pay just 25 cents per additional MB rather than the previous 50 cents. All existing MOBILE BROADBAND customers will be switched automatically and at no cost to the new tariff beginning as of 1 June 2006, depending on billing cycle. Customers will be notified through an informational text included in their bill.
Mobile Internet at the Push of a Button with the A1 INTERNETBOX
For all PC and laptop users who do not have a PCMCIA slot for the use of data cards, and have therefore not had mobile Internet access, mobilkom austria introduces yet another innovation to the Austria market as of the end of May: The A1 INTERNETBOX can very easily be connected via the PC or laptop's USB port. The necessary software is installed automatically and allows lightning fast Internet access. The A1 INTERNETBOX is no bigger than an ordinary PC mouse and supports HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS, depending on availability. It allows customers to enjoy the benefits of A1's intelligent Internet revolution and makes mobile high-speed web surfing possible throughout Austria. The handy box does without an external power supply and is available as of the end of May 2006 for EUR 99.00 with first-time registration for MOBILE BROADBAND.
3G/UMTS Router Now also with HSDPA
Thanks to a software upgrade for the 3G/UMTS router from A1, as of 22 May multiple users can use one and the same data card for wireless high-speed Internet surfing, now with lightning fast access using HSDPA. While the WLAN router previously only worked in combination with the Vodafone Mobile Connect Card UMTS/GPRS, it can now also be used together with the Vodafone Mobile Connect Card Broadband (HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE). The 'plug-and-play' solution is easy to install and connects laptops and PC to the Internet via WLAN or LAN cable. This allows the router to become up to four times faster, while at the same time increasing the efficiency of Internet connection distribution among various PCs and/or laptops. Customers who already have a 3G/UMTS router and would like to use it with the Vodafone Mobile Connect Card Broadband can easily upgrade the 3G/UMTS router, available for EUR 199.00.
