Cisco shows off 1x technology in Chinadate: November 19, 2001 Cisco Systems of the United States has demonstrated a broadband cdma2000 1x wireless solution in China. This solution provides the critical IP connectivity that is necessary to enable broadband wireless applications and services. Cisco has also provided wireless data solutions for the Beijing trial conducted by China Unicom recently. Hanh Tu, director of Service Provider Operations for Cisco China, said, "Cisco is the leader in IP solutions that will allow broadband wireless networks to interface with fixed line broadband networks. We are utilizing our expertise in IP networking, connectivity and network optimization to make it possible for wireless service providers to link their networks with the Internet and all its possibilities, thereby converging service creation, operations and management cdma2000 1x is a critical first step." The Cisco cdma2000 1x solution is based on Cisco's routers, supported by the Cisco IOS software and the Cisco Packet Data Serving Node. The solution meets the requirements of Internet applications, and provides standard physical and logical protocol interfaces for interoperability. Cisco's solution will allow operators to add more differentiated and value-added services, enabling them subsequently to compete for greater revenue and market share. Cdma2000 1x technology is capable of increasing the speed of data transmission to 144kbps, ten times that of cdmaOne, and is classified as 3G technology by the ITU.
