Sony Ericsson unveils new CDMA2000 1x mobile phone, A1101S, for
Japan

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Japan has announced the shipment
of a new CDMA2000 1x mobile phone, A1101S, to KDDI and Okinawa Cellular
Telephone. The A1101S has a luminous body combined with specially
designed changeable panels and users are able to adjust lighting
patterns and colors according to their individual taste. The A1101S
will be in shops in the beginning of November in Japan.
Equipped with a 65,536 color TFT LCD, the A1101S presents content
on a bright and richly expressive screen. The phone can store up
to 500 entries in the address book and can also be used for sending
e-mail. It has 40 polyphonic ring tones that also match with illumination
patterns. The high quality sound can be enjoyed via the phone’s
dynamic speaker. It is possible to download polyphonic melodies
and voices, an AIBO calendar, high quality pictures, and a user
manual for A1101S from SonyEricsson@ez, Sony Ericsson’s WAP site
for users in Japan.
Luminous body with transparent changeable panels
When users receive calls or e-mail, the surface of the A1101S as
well as the hinge part lights up with 25 different colors. Lighting
patterns can be selected from default settings, such as “Rainbow”,
“Ocean” etc. or users may create their own original patterns. With
this fun feature, A1101S becomes a highly individual communication
tool which can express users’ feelings and personal taste. A1101S
has 3 body color variations: “Splash white”, “Infinity Silver” and
“Trance Orange”.
New flat changeable panels
A1101S employs a new flat shape for changeable panels that allows
users to create their own unique patterns. A1101S comes with a standard
package of three different panels, Normal, Reversible and 3D.
In addition, there is an optional ”Premium Panels” line-up which
has “Rhinestone”, “Mirror”, “Denim”, “Python”, “Harako”. Each of
these panels conveys the feel of luxury materials. There is also
a value pack (otegaru pack) of panels which contains eight sheets
of various patterns and a transparent panel.
Stylish internal antenna
A1101S is equipped with a stylish, internal antenna that is a combination
of chic design and robust functionality.
Three different menus are available, which match with the three
different design patterns of the pre-set panels. Users can change
not only the outside panels, but also the internal menus in combination.
Moreover, 24 different kinds of variation menus can be downloaded
free from SonyEricsson@ez, which is the Japanese WAP site for Sony
Ericsson users. 24 variations match the panel design and color of
the value pack panels. Users can thus enjoy total coordination between
panels and menus.
Enlarged characters (16 x 16 dots, max.) are available for A1101S
in addition to normal and small size. With a large character set,
users are able check e-mail and other content more easily. A quick
and easy-to-understand reference booklet that illustrates basic
functions is attached.
