Buongiorno to supply Hutchison 3G with alerting engine
November 28, 2002
Buongiorno announced an agreement to supply its Mobile Services
Platform (MSP) to Hutchison 3G UK. The MSP is a wireless infotainment
platform driven by an underlying, alerting engine and will be a
key component of Hutchison 3G's communications services, including
email, MMS, picture messaging and person to person video.
Hutchison 3G will use Buongiorno's platform to support the alerting
features of its new services. The platform is capable of supporting
peaks in excess of 100,000 alerts per second and enables Hutchison
3G to integrate its numerous sources of content and to deliver services
through a number of channels such as SMS and MMS. The alerts created
through Buongiorno's MSP will be delivered via the messaging platform
supplied by CMG, announced in 2001. The platform will initially
be deployed in the UK and then in other countries where Hutchison
Whampoa have 3G interests.
Lisa Gernon, strategy and marketing director of Hutchison 3G UK,
said: "We are happy that their platform has met all our requirements
and it will add greatly to the quality of our multimedia services."
Andrea Casalini, CEO of Buongiorno Group emphasises that "we are
proud and delighted to partner with Hutchison 3G, the only pure
3G player, in such a strategic agreement. The process that led Hutchison
3G to sign with Buongiorno has been a rigorous product selection,
which yet again proves that the MSP is the dominant alerting platform
in the sector. In fact, as an end-to-end messaging platform, the
MSP has been "battle-tested" in supporting the alerting functionalities
in carrier environments since 1999, in addition to 45 corporate
clients across GSM, GPRS, TDMA, and CDMA networks."
