Telstra to release its 3G network upgrade plan next week
November 29, 2002
Australian mobile operator Telstra will announce details of a network
upgrade for 3G mobile services next week. Chief executive Ziggy
Switkowski said today to expect an announcement next week from Telstra
Mobile group managing director David Thodey early next week.
"It's probably to do with the next generation of wireless technology,"
Dr Switkowski said.
" ... the announcements he's proposing to make will I think give
voice to our belief that we are approaching a new stage in this
industry," he added.
Analysts believe the operator will outline 1XRTT technology as
the preferred choice for a network upgrade.
