Panasonic Ships FOMA Wireless Base Station Equipment to NTT DoCoMo

Panasonic Mobile Communications (PMC) has begun shipments to NTT DoCoMo of an outdoor-use Small Wireless Base Station for use with the 3G mobile phone service, "FOMA".

The equipment was co-developed with NTT DoCoMo in order to achieve faster enhancement of further product quality of areas required by NTT DoCoMo. Utilizing its technologies including high-density mounting technology, pre-distortion type small amplifiers, newly developed heat discharge and water-proof methods, PMC has realized further miniaturization/light weight and power-saving with lower costs compared with conventional equipment. This is most suitable for low traffic areas due to easy outdoor installation.

This equipment enables installation with existing base stations and shortens the construction period, which will lead to drastic reduction of introduction-cost and operation-cost.

The equipment will be rapidly introduced nation-wide to expand service areas such as those with specific low traffic or very weak radio wave regions.
