November 29, 2003

Andrew Corporation announced that it has agreed, with Samsung Electronics to supply digital input multi-carrier power amplifier units (DMAUs) for Samsung’s next generation 3G base station product.

Andrew and Samsung are jointly developing an integrated radio-amplifier subsystem supporting CDMA2000 and WCDMA 3G air interfaces at multiple frequencies. The subsystem will be deployed in Samsung’s V.5 BTS (Base Transceiver Station) product.

Mr. Soon-Ho Hong, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Telecommunication Division, Samsung Electronics, said, “Samsung Electronics’ presence in the CDMA and WCDMA equipment markets has been accelerating rapidly. Our collaboration with Andrew on this integrated amplifier development project is enabling us to provide a low-cost, high-efficiency base station to our customers. We believe that Andrew’s advanced digital predistortion technology will be especially valuable for our new integrated radio-amplifier subsystem.”

“Samsung is a world-leading telecommunications and electronics company that is clearly demonstrating its strong position in CDMA technology and markets worldwide and we look forward to working with them,” added Ralph Faison, Chief Executive Officer of Andrew Corporation. “By forming this new relationship with Samsung, we are also continuing to expand our addressed customer base for advanced integrated products that deliver higher performance and address the need for lower Capex and operating costs demanded by service providers.”
