LG, Intel Cooperate in Mobile Internet, 3G and Home Networking

LG Electronics and Intel, the world's biggest chip maker work together in various areas such as mobile Internet standardization, 3G handsets and home networking.
Kim Ssang-Su, LG Electronics' vice chairman will meet with Craig R. Bratt, Intel CEO Monday to discuss cooperation in standardization of mobile Internet, the South Korean company announced Sunday.
The two companies will confirm that they adopt IEEE 802.16 Wireless MAN for WiBro project, Korea's home-grown mobile Internet service and develop close cooperation on standardization of mobile Internet.
If the mobile Internet standardization is realized, LG would secure strong competitive edge by improving efficiency in mobile Internet terminal and system development and achieving compatibility with main and additional aspects of the service.
The two companies are planning to consider LG's developing mobile Internet device and system, using Intel's chip solution. Besides, on the basis of MOU on cooperation in home networking signed in March, the two companies are going to forge an alliance in the area of controlling home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners through home server.
The two companies are planning to develop close partnership in PC and PDA where they are already collaborating, 3G mobile solution that Intel is currently working on and its adoption in LG 3G handsets and almost all sectors except for home appliances.
