Sanyo debuts 3G phone on Orange
November 30, 2004
Sanyo is taking its first step into the UK market with the introduction of a new 3G phone - the S750. The phone will be exclusive to Orange's 3G network in the UK and France with rumours that it could be available later this week.
The S750 is a slider phone and comes with a four times zoom dual camera functionality, 1.3 megapixels CMOS (with integrated flash) and 310K pixel CCD. It has a 2.4 inch high resolution QVGA screen (320 x 240 pixels) supporting 262,144 colours.
The S750 supports video calling on the Orange's 3G network as well as video streaming. It is also compatible with current GSM and GPRS networks, allowing voice calls to be made and received when 3G signal is unavailable. Standby times are 260 hours of UMTS (which provides users with 170 minutes of talk), 100 minutes of video telephony and 210 hours of GSM (providing 190 minutes of talk).
Consumers may find it disappointing to see that the phone has only 8MB of internal memory to store pictures, music and videos. But the built-in SD card slot can provide support for SD cards of 256MB.
More features include 72 polyphonic tones for almost real tunes, Java Game, WAP Browsing, USB connections, MP3-Player and Pictbridge for direct printing of photos on external devices.
By connecting the PC through bluetooth or infra-red, the S750 can be used as a modem to connect to the internet. Although there are a number of facilities, the S750 is still only 122g in weight.
