Denmark publishes official documents for 3G auction

November 20, 2005

The National IT and Telecom Agency (NITA) of Denmark has published an Information Memorandum regarding the auction of a 3G licence.

The Information Memorandum provides information about the auction, which is to be held on 2 December 2005.

A single licence to establish and operate a 3G mobile network covering the frequency bands 1965-1980MHz paired with 2155-2170MHz, and 1910-1915MHz (unpaired) will be auctioned. The spectrum to be awarded was previously held by Orange, but was returned to the NITA following TeliaSonera's take-over of Orange in Denmark.

The rules for the auction are set out in the Executive Order on Auction of a Licence for a 3G Mobile Network issued by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Executive Order is to enter into force on 26 November 2005.

Previously, the Information Memorandum has been released for public consultation in parallel with the minister's Executive Order. The consultation note on this subject is also published.
